A vampire facelift is a cosmetic procedure that utilizes plasma drawn from your blood.Unlike a vampire facial, which uses microneedling, a vampire facelift injects both plasma and a hyaluronic acid filler. This procedure that targets multiple areas on the face can help make skin look more youthful by restoring components lost over time. When injected into the skin, the PRP triggers the skin to heal itself. PRP is Platelet Rich Plasma – your own plasma and your own platelets – the same ingredients used to rejuvenate the face, erase scars, and nourish joints and tendons. Your plasma is already loaded with growth factors and stem cells but your platelets can send out signals that attract even more stem cells to the area. Your stem cells have the unique ability to transform themselves into any other tissue, thus increasing collagen production and tissue remodeling. Collagen is a protein abundant in youthful skin, like the skin of children and young adults. This protein is responsible for skin’s tautness, flexibility, and strength.
The Vampire Facelift may incorporate Juvederm HA fillers.Hyaluronic Acid is a natural molecule found in your body. It keeps skin plump, radiant, and hydrated. HA fillers consist of a smooth, gel substance. The bio-degradable material adds volume within the skin. The HA filler is injected into facial creases to fill in fine lines and sunken areas to plump the face and restore volume.
After you perform the initial procedure, the treatment area will continue to improve for 2 to 3 months as the collagen and tissue remodeling continues.
Vampire Facelift Procedure
After discussing your plan with your practitioner, we will clean off your face and apply topical numbing cream to the treatment areas. Then, we will draw your blood from your arm. Typically your practitioner will first inject the face with filler, targeting areas with deep creases or wrinkles.
The blood will go into a centrifuge. This separates the PRP from the rest of the blood. Using a small needle, the PRP will be injected back into the face in the areas discussed with your practitioner.
How to Prepare for Treatment
Because you may experience a slight burning sensation during the injection of the PRP, it does help to come in well hydrated. Also, please make sure to come in with a clean, makeup free face.
What to expect after
You may notice some redness on your face after a vampire facelift and possibly some pinprick bleeding. Bruising is a common side effect after the treatment along with some swelling.
Try to avoid touching your face in the hours after the procedure. You can use an ice pack or take Tylenol to calm swelling and alleviate any pain.
You’ll see immediate plumping results from the filler, and the glow and evenness from PRP can be visible starting at 2 to 3 weeks post treatment. Results aren’t permanent and will typically last for 1 year and as long as 18 months.
